My Journey: The Story Behind BestPro
By Rob “Bunk” Busick
Hello, my name is Rob Busick, but my friends call me Bunk. I am the founder of BestPro, a family-owned contracting business serving both commercial and residential customers.
BestPro wasn’t just an idea—it was a vision that came to me in a dream while I was in a coma for over 30 days. In that dream, I built a business named BestPro, and it became so successful that I was able to give back to those in need. Through this success, I was able to make a difference in the world and share my story of finding peace in God.
But this dream began with a tragedy.
The Accident That Changed Everything
On July 22, 2018, my life took a sudden turn. It was an ordinary Sunday afternoon, and I was racing down my driveway with my youngest son, Colton Jameson—he was on his Big Wheel, and I was on my longboard skateboard.
That race became my last.
At the finish line, I fell off my skateboard, hitting the back of my head on the soft grass of my front yard. It seemed like a minor fall—nothing that should have changed my life. But I wasn’t wearing a helmet, and that seemingly harmless moment led to a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
In front of my 7-year-old son, I was knocked unconscious. I was rushed to Shock Trauma, where my lungs collapsed, and I suffered a severe brain bleed. I was placed on a ventilator, and the doctors told my wife and three sons to prepare for the worst.
For 30 days, I remained in a deep coma. No one knew if I would wake up.
But then, I did.
The first thing I saw was my loving wife by my bedside. And my first words to her were words that even I didn’t expect:
👉 “I want to play guitar. I want to know God. And I want to build my own business, called BestPro.”
These were three things I had never considered before my accident. But they weren’t random. They were part of a divine plan—a plan that had been set in motion ten days before my injury.
God Spoke to Me
On July 12, 2018, just ten days before my accident, I had an extraordinary experience.
That morning, I was in Ocean City, Maryland, watching the sunrise over the ocean. I had just bought a fancy $300 pair of sunglasses and wanted to see how well they worked, so I stared directly at the sun.
Something incredible happened.
As I gazed at the rising sun, everything around me became silent—the waves stopped making noise, and a deep sense of peace washed over me. Then, I heard the most beautiful voice telling me:
👉 “Stand up. Walk into the ocean.”
Without hesitation, I did. As I stepped into the water, both of my hands lifted into the air—without my control.
And then, I heard the voice again.
👉 “You will be okay.”
At that moment, I was frozen—locked in place, unable to move. The only thing I could control was my eyes. As I looked down, I saw fresh footprints in the sand, leading out of the water.
I followed those footprints until they disappeared at a sand dune fence. When I reached the end, I snapped out of my trance.
I knew, without a doubt, that God had spoken to me.
I ran back to our condo and woke my wife, eager to share what had happened. “God just spoke to me,” I told her. “He said, ‘You will be okay.’ I don’t know what it means, but it means something!”
She laughed it off and went back to sleep. Later that day, I shared the story with my friends.
I didn’t understand at the time, but God was preparing me for what was coming. Ten days later, I suffered my TBI.
A Journey of Faith, Recovery & Purpose
The road to recovery wasn’t easy. My family and I faced financial hardship, struggles, and sacrifice. We lost things we thought we needed. But through it all, I discovered something I had been missing my entire life—God.
Before my accident, I had everything—except true happiness. Today, I have peace.
God is now at the center of my life. He is my best friend. I talk to Him daily and seek His guidance in everything I do.
BestPro: A Dream Turned Reality
Fast forward to today—I am living the dream that God placed in my heart.
I am no longer racing through life. I live in the moment. I have slowed down, building BestPro one job at a time, trusting that God has a plan for me.
Of course, life isn’t always easy. Living with a brain injury has its challenges, and I still have difficult days. But I also have a deep peace knowing that God is beside me on this journey.
Why I’m Sharing My Story
This is how BestPro came to be. It is more than just a business—it is a testimony to God’s plan and faithfulness.
Whether you choose BestPro for your home improvement needs or not, I believe you’re reading this for a reason. Maybe it’s to remind you that you are not alone. Maybe it’s to give you hope. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s to help you see that God has a plan for you too.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story.
